Mango Frooty handmade cards

I've made so many of these lately. All to give away. They're a thoughtful little gift for a bereavement, as a 'thank you', for illness ... a little more personal than flowers.

But heck they are time consuming.....

I can't give up the day job. I need to pay bills and buy materials.

Indonesian silk batik, sari and dip dyed silk and wool mix scarves

Now that the weather is getting cooler, my thoughts have turned towards scarves. Since winter coats are usually dull in colour, I aimed for bright, rich hues and patterns to lend a little 'oomph'.

The Indonesian silk batik fabric in the middle and top image came from my Balinese haul last year. The pink Chinese silk brocade was bought in Patan, Nepal. There's a sliver of acid-hued Rajasthani sari fabric in there too and the dip dyed wool mix and silk fabrics were done by yours truly.... I used a cut starfruit to print the silver stars on the turquoise and brown dyed silk.

Phew.

Vintage branch coral and turquoise nugget on a silver circle

This is a little different. It's a piece of pink vintage branch coral suspended on one of my silver circles with a chunk of African turquoise.

Could be worn on a thin leather thong or a silver chain.

wedding memento

and for my friend Jasmine who got married on the weekend...

birthday paper collages

Birthing day pictures for little Lille Aconia and little Gabrielle Elise...

Paper collage with sequins (Istanbul market), antique pearl buttons (eBay and Barcelona flea market), stamps and other little bits. The angel stickers came from this little old fashioned paper shop in Barcelona. I've nearly run out so need to find some more....

single stone pendants on sterling silver circles

I've been fixated with making silver circles for the last couple of months and I sort of wondered why so I looked it up online.

As a design element in my jewellery, a thin, hammered silver ring suspended on a fine cord or chain is a perfect foil for delicate pearls or really pretty or unusual single beads.

But wait, there's more....

As a symbol, the circle signifies completion, inclusion, wholeness, magic.
The circle is also considered a symbol of unity and infinity, without beginning or end...

So maybe there's more to it than me hammering out little rings on the kitchen table because they look really good with a single stone suspended from them.

Here is this weekend's selection of single stone pendants.

Below image from left: Abalone and baroque pearl, Indian cut carnelian, Volcanic lava, rough cut Fluorite.

children's silver jewellery

I've started photographing the children's jewellery I've made. It's nice to be able to offer the same level of craft and materials for children though I also do wonder how many things you give kids end up lost and forgotten somewhere in the back of a cupboard or in the sandpit....

These are on the website.

jingle jangle silver charm bangles

Here is a selection of charm bangles. They are hammered rounds of heavy silver wire so any knocks and dents through everyday wear will integrate into the design....

I had been looking for months for sets of these online... now I can make my own.

I put them on the website.

hammered silver hoop and bead dangly earrings

Now I have control over the thickness and size of hoops instead of having to buy them in a uniform and certain size. I can make hoops to suit beads I have rather than try and match beads to hoops I've bought.

These are a little more delicate - I'm using wire to make the hoops and then hammer them into a slightly off-kilter circle.

All together now....

jingle jangle bangles

bangles ... don't forget bangles

These are work in progress. They are hammered, polished and slightly kooky. They will have more charms and dangles added when I get in the mood.
